Information

Down Syndrome UK is a national charity passionate about empowering parents and professionals to improve the lives of those with Down syndrome. We have an amazing community for our families, and we know how important it is for them to have access to accurate contemporary information and meaningful support. We work hard for children with Down syndrome to be valued and included in the communities in which they live, to be able to successfully attend their local mainstream school and when old enough to work; no longer to encounter barriers, but instead to be welcomed and embraced within society. Down Syndrome UK aims to inform and educate as widely as possible to ensure that our children can become valued friends and colleagues without many outdated stereotypes and prejudices restricting friendships and working relationships.

Down Syndrome UK currently has 4 initiatives:

Positive about Down syndrome: This provides information, support and resources to expectant, new and preschool parents.

ST&R (Support, training or resources): Support, training & resources for parents and professionals for children and young people of school age.

Pants4school: Enabling children with Down syndrome to be toilet trained in time to start in pants for school.

DSUK Network: A forum to disseminate best practice amongst local Down syndrome support groups.

Down syndrome UK have 4 core aims that underpin their work. Support and information, advocating, educating and raising awareness.
